A Brief Guide to Handicapping (English Golf Union)

Scores for an initial handicap

These can be submitted from any measured course, and at Mapledurham this means play from the Yellow or White or Red distance plates

Complete 9 hole or 18 hole rounds must be played and 54 holes of golf must be completed by way of 6x 9holes or 3x18 holes or a combination of both.

There is no need to preregister prior to playing a round for the initial handicap adjudication.

Scores must be marked by a person acceptable to the handicap committee, ie another member with a handicap or a member of another club with a handicap noting his/her name and affiliated club.

Maximum score for new golfers  is par + 5 and holes not completed or scoring above this will be adjusted to par +5

Make sure please that you mark which tees you have played from !!

Players and markers must sign the card and place in the handicap box next to reception.

Time frame for submitting a score.

A player should submit their score as soon as possible on the day of play, after completion of their round, and before midnight (local time)

Handicap Committees are required to conduct an annual review of Handicaps.

General Play Cards on Home Course. (previously Supplementary cards)

These cards must be pre registered on the reception computer or the IG app PRIOR to playing the round.  The round must be played on a measured course (whites or Yellows or reds)  see above.

When the round is completed, enter your score on the reception computer or IG app dependant on which you registered your game, photograph the scorecard and put the card in the competition box.

All rounds intended for inclusion as a Supplementary Card must be entered on the Reception computer or IG App. Please remember to mark your card with the tee that you played from.

NO CARDS USING THE ENGLAND GOLF APP ARE PERMITTED

General Play at AWAY COURSES  please register on the England Golf App and complete the exercise, if not able to do so send a copy of the card to the handicap secretary by email on the same day.
